September 11th, 2008. Eight women in search of support for Obama…….Mary Jo, an artist, paints stones found along the shore with the words “Obama,” “Hope” “Fairness” “ Justice” “Equal Rights.” A new way of showing support for our next President is born.
With photos of the stones in hand, we paint these same words on stones with markers and agree to place ten a day wherever we can in places that will be noticed. To ask ten other people throughout the country - men, women, children - to join our efforts. And ten more and ten more each day until the support for Obama overwhelms and is embraced by all fifty states.
The beauty of this idea: An anonymous, non-confrontational, progressive movement in support of Barack (BaROCK) Obama. A surprisingly simple message, viewed, passed by or placed someplace else. An artistic response. Stones are part of the earth that Barack Obama wants to impact, improve, and save from global warming. The United States of America that Barack Obama wants to lead into a new vision of democracy.
Join us! Paint stones! Distribute them everywhere!
Change our country and the world!
